The Emirates NBD was initially established on June 19, 1963, by the then-ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, as the National Bank of Dubai (NBD), the first national bank to be established in Dubai. NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on March 6, 2007, to form Emirates NBD. On October 16, 2007, shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).
As of December 31, 2020, total assets were AED 698 billion, reserves AED 464 billion, total revenue AED 23.21 billion, and net profit AED 7 billion. The Group has representative offices in the UAE, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, China, and Indonesia.
